Belief in Self

Founders Live CEO, Nick Hughes, writes in from his tour of Southeast Asia.

Traveling the world allows me to observe humans in many different cultures and unique circumstances. It’s one of my favorite aspects of my job as CEO.

What I find is people are people, and entrepreneurs are entrepreneurs. I am baffled as to how similar we all are no matter what corner of the world you call home.

I have said many times there’s not much difference between me and any of you, no matter what you look like or wherever you are reading this in the world.

You are talented in your own way. You are no doubt more talented than me in many things.

You observe the world from a unique lens, and have the opportunity to see challenges and problems that might be worth solving with a distinct and unique solution. And you deserve as much of an opportunity to be successful as I or anyone else does.

Yet within my travels I have discovered something even more important. No matter the person, country or language, one thing is required for success - Belief in yourself.

Some people come at it naturally, and some people less so.

But one of my favorite aspects of the Founders Live event experience is during an event where a founder has been called up to take their position in the spotlight. It’s their turn to share their vision of a better future with the crowd. It’s their time.

What are they feeling at that moment?

How much belief do they have in themselves?

The beauty of Founders Live is We - as the community and the crowd - in that moment breathe belief into those founders on stage. We want them to deliver and we collectively pull the greatness out of each and every one of our presenters.

You can literally see someone transform from the person who walked up to the stage and the leader and visionary who steps off after their pitch, proud of their performance.

This last week I once again observed this firsthand in Palangkaraya, Indonesia where I joined our Indonesian leaders in an event, the first in-person event in Palangkaraya. It was pure magic.

Of course I had no idea what they were saying in their native Indonesian language, and a few times I think they made jokes at my expense, but you could literally feel the transformation within the group of founders.

This is why I travel. This is why I must continually meet entrepreneurs from around the world, discover what moves them and attempt to find similar footing no matter their language.

We are all gifted.

Founders Live allows your gifts to be shared with the world, and we’ll only create more opportunities over time for you and your gifts to shine.

More of those gifts are on display this week at these events:

Palembang, Indonesia - Hybrid

San Francisco, USA - In-person

Buenos Aires, Argentina - In-person
