Speak Your Way to a Better Life

Not long after I finished college, I made the decision to teach English in Japan for one year. I didn’t expect to spend the next 25 years in the land of the rising sun. The reason why I did is that I found my calling.

My passion is to help people with education and career development. During my time on earth, I’ve been a teacher, internship coordinator, study abroad manager, scholarship director, and startup CEO. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing people succeed and find a better life for themselves. 

My students were motivated to improve their careers, increase their earning potential, and build a professional international network. Some of my students are now professors, researchers, doctors, lawyers, executives, and entrepreneurs. I am still in contact with many of them and am so glad to hear about their success.

The English Speaking Barrier

For the students I helped who had international career plans, I noticed English speaking was a serious barrier. If you are from a country where English is not commonly spoken, there is a lack of people to practice with and you probably will experience difficulty understanding the wide gap between textbook and real-life expressions.

When I was a teacher, I was strongly motivated to help my students improve at speaking English, but I was often frustrated that I could not help them improve faster. The problem was that students could only come to class one or two days a week. To help them reach their goals to become advanced speakers, they needed to practice every day. I wanted to give them an immersive learning experience, as I experienced in Japan myself. When you have the language around you every day, you have the best chance to improve quickly.
